Growing up in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine, I inherited a love for outdoor adventures from my grandpa, who would often point at a distant peak and declare, “We’re going to the top of that.” Along the way, we’d snack on wild blueberries, forage for mushrooms destined for my grandma’s soup, or gather mountain herbs to brew into warm tea in the winter.

In 2017, I embarked on a new adventure, leaving Ukraine to pursue my studies in the U.S. After earning a Bachelor’s in Applied Math and a Master’s in Computational Science and Engineering from Harvard, I’ve since settled in Copenhagen, Denmark. Here, I work as a Senior Data Scientist & Machine Learning Engineer, with the city as my home base for continued exploration of the wild and remote corners of our planet on backpacking trips. My 1970s Pentax MX film camera usually comes along, though sometimes the spontaneity of an iPhone shot captures the moment just as perfectly.
